We don’t have to do this …

A young man who I’ve known since he was in elementary school just made this award-winning movie …

(could be triggering, depicts war, and the ending is both disturbing and moving)

I posted it because if you watch it to the ending you’ll see why it’s relevant to us.

The main character makes a choice that I think will come back to haunt him in the end … and it’s not necessary. Or real. Can we truly kill part of who we are?

He might have felt that he had to do this to survive. Maybe he felt as if he had to do this to function. But how will he ever heal without helping that terrified, grieving man who’s still living inside him?

I have no answers. But I don’t think we have to kill part of us in order to get well.

  1. We’re thinking that just from the visual that this movie is probably pretty intense. You must be very proud of this young man’s accomplishments. I have to admit we got spooked by the first 30 seconds – but it’s still early in the day. We’re now appreciating your stamina!

    Our best,
