It was an odd, frightening thing as a child, to suddenly realize you didn’t know where you were, or how you got where you were, or why you were wearing something odd, or that you had something due tomorrow that you hadn’t started on yet.

Even stranger was when people called you a name that wasn’t yours, or swore up and down that they knew you when you had no idea who they were. I heard “you have a twin” a LOT. And I don’t have a twin.

It wasn’t until recently that I realized these people really had talked to me. I mean this body, but not me.
